Master Parts List

Master Parts List

Parts are the base component of everything in the system. Anything that you want to track will have a part #. Parts are things you buy, sell, produce, and are even non-material items such as labor and overhead. The Parts List should be organized into Part Groups. You can create a hierarchy of groups as many layers deep as needed. Add a group or a part by clicking the little down arrow on the button on the right of the Parts List table header and then clicking either option. Once a group has been created you can add parts to that group by highlighting the group in the list and then clicking the "Add part" in the top right.

Part Name & Description will be used differently by different companies. In general the Name is meant to be a generic identification or a short identifying code such as a model number and the description is meant to contain more detail. Some companies may not use the name field at all and others may not use the description field. Notes can be used for any misc information you would like to write about the parts.

Costing: Parts have two costs, Current & Future. Current is based on actual cost. Future is used for quoting and is what you want the base cost to be. Cost can be determined in various ways. They can be directly entered or calculated by the system. The options are selected via the check boxes.
